1936 - 9th Academy Awards

Thus begins the next year:

William Powell, My Man Godfrey
Spencer Tracy, San Francisco
Irene Dunne, Theodora Goes Wild
Gladys George, Valiant is the Word for Carrie
Carole Lombard, My Man Godfrey
Luise Rainer, The Great Ziegfeld
Norma Shearer, Romeo and Juliet


I'm not looking forward to about four of these films. Feel free to share your thoughts on those you've seen out of this bunch and which/who you'll think I'll like or hate :)

  2. Wow, your coverage of these past two years has made me realize just how desolate my Oscar viewing in '35 & '36 is. I haven't seen a single lead nominee from either year. Yikes. Still, I'm still very interesting in what you think :) Especially about Rainer, George, and Muni.

    I've seen a lot in '37, so I'll have more to say then! :D

    1. Haha yeah...in terms of Oscar's earliest contenders, I can't say I've been able to discuss my thoughts with many bloggers--I personally can't wait until I hit the years where that more people have seen!
